The Home Study Program provides an opportunity to learn the basis behind what many consider to be the most advanced and comprehensive method of education available today. In the Home Study program one can read in Dr. Montessori's own words about her first experiments and discoveries and the concepts she developed. In the process, one can develop an understanding of children, how they develop and learn, and how they become self-disciplined, responsible, socially mature and competent. In addition, a person can come to understand how children can be helped to develop the ability to lead happy and contented lives, and how the adult helps or hinders the process. Further, one can discover a positive approach to parenting and teaching--an approach which does not depend on coercion or rewards and punishments. Through the Home Study program, a person can also earn how to help children learn to read, how to develop children's mathematical intelligence, how to teach music, art, science, geography, history, or any of a number of other topics. There are currently several Home Study programs. 1) Course I - Pre-Primary Home Study - covering ages 2 to 5 2) Course II - Primary Home Study - covering ages 2 to 7 3) Course IIa - The Primary Addition Home Study Program - covering ages 5 to 7 (for those who took the Pre-Primary Course I) 4) Courses III and IV Elementary Home Study - covering ages 6 to 12 |
