Walk Against Crime

Mt Vernon Residents:

ATTEMPTED HOME INVASION IN DAYTON’S MT VERNON NEIGHBORHOOD
COMMUNITY RESPONSE THURSDAY, APRIL 17:  WALK AGAINST CRIME

Five to seven men trespassed on one of our neighborhood streets Sunday morning April 13.  They started to break down the front door of a home on the street.  It happened at about 6 AM.  The home was well lit outside and had three cars parked in driveway. The intruders were observed going up to several other properties on the street.

Mrs. Lynnette Lynn-Fraser, Co-President of the Mt Vernon Neighborhood Association, called an emergency meeting of all residents on this street.  They met Sunday evening.  She proposed to organize an immediate community response.  The residents agreed.  The response will be a WALK AGAINST CRIME.  This will take place on the streets of the Mt Vernon Neighborhood area.

March participants will meet at the corner of Wabash and Niagara (old Colonel White High School) Thursday April 17 at 7:00 PM to finish assembling signs.  The neighborhood march begins at 7:30 PM.  Marchers will be carrying signs and the group will distribute handouts along the route.

Mrs. Lynn-Fraser will contact Lt. Wilhelm of the Fifth Police District to rquest police escort, a bicycle patrol.  She will notify Mayor McLin.  Joe Alexander contacted the Dayton Daily News, Mike Grant will call Channel 2 News, and Chuck Upthegrove Channel 7 News.  John Fraser will assemble signs.  Kathy Schaefer has designed the handouts.
