November 22,
The school year is really moving by quite rapidly. It's hard to believe that we have already reached the mid-term of the second quarter and that we only have two days of school this week because of Thanksgiving. I hope that all of you have a blessed Thanksgiving vacation and pray that you find time to thank God for all of His blessings.
Since this is a short week, I will give you the information for this week and next week (That way I won't have to remember to do this over the vacation also.) We have finished our work with PowerPoint for the time being, and we have finished - with the exeption of a few touch-ups - our work on the Science presentation. Hopefully, everyone will do a nice job presenting the information in science class. This was the last cross-curricular project we are working on this semester. We will have many more next semester as we master more concepts and tools.
Speaking of which, this week we will begin workng on using the Excel spreadsheet. We will look at what's changed in the latest version of Excel, look at the new file format, work with the ribbon and begin entering and editing data. Next week, we will look at Excel as a tool for doing math as we work with formulas and functions. We will also review creating and editing tables.
I hope to hand out the December calendar to the students next week. The main focus for December will be working with Excel. We may also do a couple of projects that will review the skills the students have learned in Word. The website that we will be using as our tutorial is: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/training/default.aspx |
