Hosted by: Major Taylor Cycling Club ChicagoDuring the weekend of November 13-15, 2009 the inaugural meeting of Major Taylor Clubs of America will convene in Chicago. This is an opportunity for representatives of all predominately African American clubs to come together. Come and participate in what may become the shaping and development of African American cycling in America. Bring your ideas, opinions and enthusiasm. In essence this is a call for action for those who are interested in transforming the African American cycling community into to a goal oriented, healthier, cohesive, more vibrant community. Attendees will enjoy food, beverages, entertainment and productive conversations with “bike minded” individuals, with the goal of ultimately forming a grassroots organization supporting goals and agendas formulated by attendees. Tentative Agenda: Thursday- Anyone arriving Thursday night can join us to watch the Bears vs S.F. 49ers at TBD downtown bar the game starts at 7pm— details will be posted here later. Friday - 11am-Visit Major Taylor resting place (South suburbs) and Major Taylor Trail mural (in the city) Meet up outside Active Transportation Alliance offices Tentative: Tour of SRAM world headquarters 4p to 5:30pm, meet & greet at Active Transportation Alliance office 6pm, Dinner and checking out downtown Chicago night life Saturday – Breakfast 8am-4pm, Meeting (at Active Transportation Alliance) Lunch on site 6:30pm, Dinner and checking out again everything downtown Chicago has to offer.
