Volunteers are needed for the upcoming Bolevard Lakefront Tour Ride on September 13th.

What: MTC3 participation in the 80th Annual Bud Billiken Day Parade When: Saturday, August 8th, 2009 (It is always on the second Saturday in August)
Where: South Side Chicago. I will have the exact time and location after attending a mandatory meeting on 1 August. Who: It is our hope and desire that everyone on this mailing list will/can participate. Website: http://budbillikenparade.com/
We will need parade participants: walkers, riders and 'flyer hander outers'. More info: On 1
August we will learn where we fall in, times, location, protocols,
do's, don'ts, whatever. I asked about tent/table setups for after the
event. There is a $750 minimum fee for this opportunity. I didn't
think we would be doing that. I tried to pry some info on other
participants such as other fitness/health oriented participants. The
reason I sough this info is hoping that some paying org or corp sponsor
would let us piggy back in their tent or table. they would give me no
info. so we will see who shows up. A few facts: - The Bud Billiken® Parade and Picnic is largest of its kind in the nation.
- More than 75,000 persons participated in 2008 Bud Billiken® Parade and Picnic.
- The 2008 Bud Billiken® Parade and Picnic had more than 315 floats, vehicles and marching units in its procession.
- In 2008, more than 1.5 million persons lined the parade’s route.
- More
than 85 corporations and businesses marketed their services and
products at the After Parade Activities which was attended by more than
170,000 persons.
- In 2008, more than 25 million viewers
viewed the Bud Billiken® Parade and Picnic nationally on television. It
captured the number one and number two spots in African American
households for its time slot.
