| Thank you to everyone that participated last week in helping us prepare this document for discussion and approval by the Academic Senate and President. I've attached the amended version of the document. We are moving ahead with a number of the items. I am setting up English, Math and Learning Skills sections that will need to be sent to the Assessment Center to take the ACT Compass test. This will help us establish an initial baseline. We will be testing the same sections at the end of the semester. All discipline faculty are encouraged to take the test as well. Please contact Trini Sandoval in the Assessment Center, C-107. I am also setting up some subject working groups that will be taking a look at areas that we specified in the plan. These groups will be looking at curriculum, placement, tutoring services, labs, and software. I would like each group to meet at least three times during the course of the semester. Each group will be looking at the curriculum and resources for all pre-College level courses and creating a structured, simple to understand, well-supported pathway for students to achieve college-level skills.
