Holly Botzum is a 2006 graduate of Highland High School. Currently she studies tuba with Travis Scott. While in High School she performed with the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony (Dr. Gary Ciepluch) and the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra (James Gaffigan).  In the summer of 2005 she traveled to New Orleans, LA for the John Phillip Sousa National Honors band (Col. John R. Bourgeois).  Holly also participated in the Ohio University and the Ohio Band Director’s Conference honors bands, as well as the Ohio All-State band. Holly plans on attending The University of Akron in the fall of 2006 to pursue a major in tuba performance with professor Tucker Jolly.








Jim Hedrick is Director of Technology for the Medina County Schools Education Service Center. He lives in Valley City with his wife, Cheryl, and their three boys. Jim joined the Medina Community Band in 2007 and 

also plays in the Brunswick Community Band. He participates yearly in Tuba Christmas and plays bass with the /Swingin’ 78’s/ jazz ensemble.












Robert Jones graduated from Medina High School in 1955 were he began to play the tuba under the direction of Richard Stacy. He attended Ohio State University and played in the OSU Marching Band for two years. He served in the U. S. Air Force and received is bachelor of arts degree in business and studied music at Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kansas. He also continued to play tuba in the concert band. He returned to Medina in 1964 and served nine years as the Finance Director for the City of Medina. He retired from governmental finance in 2005 after working for Medina County Commissioners, finance director in Fairbanks, Alaska and 22 years as the finance manager for the Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. He has played in the Medina Community Band since 2003 and also plays in the Berea Community Band. He has continued to play in the Ohio State University Alumni Band and was selected to dot the eye in the "Script  Ohio" preformed at the alumni band reunion in 2004. Bob lives in Berea with his wife Maureen and their dog Moony.

Section Leader

Allan Kelley is a graduate of Revere High School and received his bachelor of science degree in mathematics from The Kent State University.  He lives and works in Cleveland as a data processing contractor.  He participates in the Fairview Park Community Band, Goodyear Concert Band, Cuyahoga Community College Band, Medina Community Band, and the Sounds of Sousa Band.  He also participates in Tuba Christmas performances in Medina, Lorain, Niles, and Wooster.

 

 

 

Ken Pond studied music education at The University of Akron,and is a printer at Vertis Communications. In addition to playing in the Medina Community Band, Ken plays tuba in the Wadsworth Community Band and Trinity Lutheran Brass. He is presently a member of the Summit Bells; having served as handbell director for congregations in Doylestown, Wadsworth, and Akron (OH).

Kyle Snyder is a claims adjuster with Liberty Mutual Insurance.  He enjoys playing  in the Medina Community Band and the Sounds of Sousa Band but His favorite genre is  “Dixieland” music.  He has been a member of the MCB since 1986 .  He currently performs with the Earlville Jazz Band, River City Jazz Band, and the Minstrels of Earlville. He also plays big band music with the Patriots Dance Band and played as a member of the  entertainment staff of SeaWorld.
