Current News 23 September 2009 Hey Everyone,
First I want to poke fun at myself a little bit and say that I think it was funny how the first 45 seconds of my platform speech were spent talking about how cold this school is. I now realize that that was off on a tangent about our energy usage, and fortunately I became more focused later in my speech. This past weekend TJ, James and I went to Hibbing for the first Governing Council meeting of the Minnesota State College Student Association (MSCSA). I am proud to say that MCTC continues to make waves in the statewide association. TJ was elected to Vice Chair of the Presidents Group, and I was elected to the Metro-West Platform Representative. It is a huge honor for me to be elected to this position. Basically it entails me being responsible to sit on the committee that decides what legislative issues MSCSA will support, and then disseminate that information to the three other colleges in the Metro-West Region. I am really excited to be elected because one of my goals is to get MCTC more politically engaged and informed of issues that affect them in higher education sot hey can become more successful advocates. I’m also really excited for this weeks Leadership Conference, and all the activities leading up to it. I hope to see everyone at the State of the Student event Wednesday at 11 in the Helland Center. I also am looking forward to helping facilitate a workshop on having successful events on campus and running effective meetings. Thanks to all of the clubs that financially supported Leadership Week. I’m hoping this will become an annual event!
Yours, Interim VP Geoff Dittberner |
