Build It Materials: ten-frame deck of cards (without face cards) counters (at least 10) Play 1. Turn over a card. 2. Identify the number on the card. 3. Count out the same number of counters as were on the card. 4. Lay the counters on the ten frame - one counter in each box. 5. Remove the counters from the ten frame. 6. Turn over another card and play again. Double Compare Materials: deck of cards without face cards Play with a partner: 1. Deal the cards facedown. 2. Both players turn over their top two cards. 3. The player with the larger total says "Me!" and takes the cards. If the totals are the same, both players turn over tow more cards. 4. Keep turning over two cards. Heads and Tails Materials: 8-12 pennies recording sheet Play alone: 1. Decide how many pennies to play with. Record the number on the recording sheet. 2. Drop the pennies. 3. Count how many pennies are heads and how many pennies are tails. 4. Record the two numbers on the recording sheet. 5. Keep dropping the pennies and recording how they land. 6. The game is over when the grid is full. How Many Am I Hiding? Materials: 8-12 cubes recording sheet Play with a partner: 1. Decide how many cubes to play with. Both players write this number on their recording sheets. 2. Make a tower with that many cubes. 3. Player 1 hides some of the cubes. 4. Player 2 tells how many cubes are hidden. 5. Player 1 shows the hidden cubes. 6. Both players count how many were hidden and then record that number on their recording sheets. 7. Keep playing with the same tower.
