Important Dates:

  • Band Booster meetings: 3rd Thursday every month at 7PM in the High School Chorus room
  • The Indoor Drumline and Colorguard practice and  competition schedules are posted on the Calendar

Fund Raisers / Volunteering

Fund raiser checks must be made out to:
Mars Area Band Boosters.
The Band Boosters incur a bank fee for checks NOT written to Mars Area Band Boosters.

The table below (scroll down) provides abbreviated information about currently scheduled events.  Detailed descriptions can be found on THIS PAGE.  We encourage all parents to volunteer whenever possible and become involved in your child's band career.  If you have specific questions about an event or position, you can contact the chairperson or send email to bandinfo@marsband.com

All fund raisers must be approved by the Band Boosters and the Mars Area School District prior to the start of the fund raiser. Review and approval of fund raisers is not automatic. There are procedures that must be followed when proposing and running a fund raiser.  Fund raisers that have been run in previous years may not be approved this year due to poor performance, scheduling conflicts, School District denial, etc....  Everyone is welcome to investigate and suggest a new fund raiser and to obtain information from a company that has a fund raising program. Please do not, however, make any commitments to the company that you are receiving information from, even if it is a company that the Band Boosters has used in the past.

Please scroll to the bottom of this page to download and view "Fund Raising Guidelines" for more information.  If you would like to suggest a fund raiser, please send your suggestions to bandinfo@marsband.com so that your ideas can be discussed at a future Band Booster meeting.  If you are the chairperson for a fundraiser that has already been approved by the Band Boosters, you will need to file a Fund Raiser Request form with the School District for their approval.  This form can also be found at the bottom of this page.

Give the flyer to all of your friends and neighbors prior to meal day. We are not allowed to solicit customers outside the restaurant.  (If you do not see a flyer at the bottom of the page, there is no event scheduled).

Car Washes

    Held at the 7-11 convenience store located at the corner of Route 228 and Mars-Valencia Road across from Good Old Uncle Bob's Restaurant. Plan on getting at least a little bit wet and dress accordingly.

    This is not a fund raiser but does require volunteers.  Competition meals are provided to students on dates that we have PIMBA competitions (but not our own Home Show date).  The Boosters offer this service since there are typically day-long practices scheduled on competition days, followed immediately by the Band boarding buses to travel to the competition site. Lunch is scheduled between the end of practice and departure time so students and parents don't need to worry about providing lunch on those days.
Citrus Sale

  When you volunteer, please be sure you sign-in so that there is proof that we provided workers for the event. If you don't sign in, it will be the same as if we didn't provide a volunteer  (no money for the band).

Entertainment Books

 September   Entertainment books are filled with coupons for businesses in the Pittsburgh area, including Butler County. Books cost $20. If you use just a few coupons out of the book, it will pay for itself quickly. After that, the savings add up every time you use a coupon.  This is a popular fund raiser for something that everyone can use.

Fall Home Show

    The Home Show is a major fund raiser for the boosters and involves the participation of many parents.  Bands from around the area come to Mars to compete.  Planning starts in May. An online sign up form is posted here when volunteer recruiting begins. There is a job for everyone!

Pie Festival


    The Pie Festival has morphed into a pep rally event. It is no longer called the Pie Festival and is no longer a band booster organized event.  Due to poor public attendance and poor fund raising potential, we no longer do any fund raising at this event.  We have not, however, abandoned the idea of having a Pie Festival where we can raise money. We are discussing ideas to make the Pie Festival happen again in the future.

Senior Night

 October     This is not a fundraiser, but does require the help of several parents to coordinate and facilitate decorations and other aspects of the Senior Night Football Game. Please contact the Chairperson to help with this event.
Steelers Raffle

We are raffling off a Steeler Train set and an autographed Steeler football. Parents should see Jim Wagner for tickets. Because this is a raffle, we are not delivering the tickets to students. Please have all tickets turned in by 12/12.  If you have a reasonable expectation that you can sell tickets beyond 12/12, please contact Jim Wagner and let him know. The absolute last date for ticket sales and ticket turn-ins is 12/15. No tickets will be sold on 12/16 under any circumstances.

Wheeling Downs Bus Trip

Winter Home Show
