This is the future home of what "might" become a Mars Band Alumni page. I say "might" because:
- This will be an ambitious project requiring lots of time, effort, thought, and possibly resources (ie Yankee dollars) to make it happen.
- The time requirement may be more time than I have. By the time I am able to start working on this project, my children, who are on the verge of being alumni may have little alumni of their own. In the end, this may end up being one of those ideas that never quite gets off the ground.
- I don't know if doing this using the current platform for this web site is viable since it wasn't really intended for doing some of the things that you might expect to find on an alumni page. I need to do some research.
- This project may not be something that the Band Boosters, as an organization, even wants to tackle. Consider it more of a pet project of mine rather than a Booster sanctioned goal at this point in time. I am throwing the idea out there now to gather opinions more than anything. At some point we will probably vote on the idea at a booster meeting since the idea is sort of outside the scope of the web site's purpose.
- Given the answers to the previous bullet point (and the potential need for money to fund the project), a Mars Band Alumni page may turn out to be a Mars Band alumni web site that is completely separate from this web site. There is also the possibility that this idea may get shelved until someone else with more time and resources than I have can tackle the project.
- If you have any thoughts on doing something like this or know of any decent web site tools (preferably free) that would lend itself to such a project, send me an email. Carl Mikalauskas bandinfo@marsband.com
- And yes, I am aware of other alumni web sites such as www.classmates.com, and www.marshigh.com. My thought is that this page or web site would contain lots of pictures, videos, recordings, etc specific to Mars Band Alumni that would be difficult to sort or organize on a more generic platform.
