www.batterup.ab.ca. This year the southwest zone merged with the southeast zone.

Softball in southwest has been organized for years through community directors that make up Southwest Zone Minor Softball.  In the past few years the number of community directors has dropped significantly.  Last spring and autumn, calls were put out for volunteers to step forward into organizational roles as community directors and as board members.  Not enough volunteers stepped forward to help fill these positions and as a result Southwest Zone Minor Softball has collapsed.

The Southeast Zone has agreed to absorb players from the southwest for this season and after some legalities, a new South Edmonton Minor Softball Association will emerge.
 
This is an administrative change. On the ground players will see little change. The same teams and coaches will be in place and the children will be playing on the same diamonds in our communities.  The biggest change will be an increase of fees due to the fact that we will not be operating under the community leagues any more and we will need to generate enough income to cover our expenses.
 

We are encouraged that all of the communities in southwest will support these changes and will help to make this transition a smooth one.  In order to keep our costs down we are asking  your Community Board to consider providing the coaches from your community with your existing  equipment for the season. For those communities in SW that have not had representation on the Softball  board for many years  and if you still have equipment in storage somewhere, we would greatly appreciate the donation.     
 
We would also appreciate it if all of the Southwest communities were to post our  web site address on their web pages and in their advertising for sports registration.
