911 calls are answered by Edmonton Police Service 911 operators. If Fire Rescue Services or Emergency Medical Services is required, the call is transferred to the Emergency Response Communications Centre (ERCC).

What is an emergency?
  • An emergency includes those situations when lives are at risk or
  • there is severe bodily injury, the loss or destruction of property
  • is at risk, or a crime is in progress or has just occurred.
  • This includes:
  • armed robbery;
  • domestic disturbances with violence;
  • crimes actually in progress (where the suspects can be seen
  • doing the crime) including assaults, break & enter, theft,
  • mischief, vandalism, etc.;
  • injury collisions;
  • fire and medical emergencies.

Call 423-4567 in a non-emergency.

A non-emergency consists of the sharing of crime and disorder
information with police or an incident that requires police
assistance but not an immediate police response because:
  • lives are not at risk and there are no bodily injuries;
  • the identified crime or disorder has occurred in the past and
  • there is no immediate threat to person or property.

  • Your report will help police identify ongoing crime and
  • disorder problems in your area.
  • You will save yourself time.
  • You will get personal, face-to-face service.
  • You will receive a copy of the police report immediately.
  • You will help police respond faster to emergency calls.
  • What types of concerns can be addressed at police stations?
  • Most offenses that are not in progress, including theft,
  • mischief, assault, fraud, indecent exposure, threats,
  • obscene phone calls, parking problems, neighbour conflicts,
  • traffic complaints, etc.
  • Lost and found property, including bicycles, wallets,
  • purses, etc.
  • Follow-up information to a previously reported incident.
