Unit of Inquiry -  Today in class, we discussed what a characteristic is.  We began by exploring our learner profiles and attitudes. 
                                    The students  began constructing for themselves the meaning of these attributes.  We then turned our thoughts to invertebrates and classification.
                                    Through a class exercise, the students determined the need for predetermined sets of characteristics prior to classification.
                                    The students began creating pennants to display their own personal characteristics.
                
                                      For homework this evening, please talk with your child about their unique characteristics. 
                                      Please help them make the connection between what they like to do and the characteristics necessary to partake in the action.
                                      For example:    "I like to dance" to " I display the characteristic of confidence when I dance".
                                      They may draw any symbol on their pennant which they feel represents that characteristic.  Please have them label the characteristic below their depiction.
