Sept. 8

Discussion of Transdisciplinary theme:

We began by defining the words the students thought were essential.  Students defined words for themselves as well as used a dictionary.

rights - power, privilege that one is entitled
responsible - in charge of
finite - limited
resources - things we use
equal - balanced
conflict - clash of opposing views
peace - harmony, you get along even if you have opposing views
community - group of people who share agreements
relationship - connection

We then applied to our classroom.  Students gave examples of finite resources in class such as our pencils.
We all have the right to use the pencils.  We are all responsible to take care of them, not sharpen them needlessly.
We are responsible to return them when we are done so that others may use them.

We then turned our thoughts to how we can apply the theme as global citizens.
