Why I teach...

Throughout my life I have been influenced by others who taught me how to read and write and count and compute and wonder and create and think and process and reflect and predict and care and share and play and joke and persevere and dream and even write run-on sentences. These along with countless other academic and life skills I have learned from others… and those individuals have shaped me into the person I am today. If as a teacher I can help my students grow in any of these areas, to help them become better learners, to become better people, to become better contributors to society, to become better in any aspect of their lives… then my life as a teacher will have been one worth living.

Mr. Lutz has a family

... and enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two daughters whenever possible. One summer he even got this new pool to hang out in... for some reason the pool only lasted a week!

Mr. Lutz likes rock climbing

... but is not good at taking selfies... you call that a smile?!?

Mr. Lutz likes skiing

... and usually skis at a resort... but sometimes goes backcountry. Here he is about to drop into some great powder off Berthoud Pass!

Mr. Lutz wasn't born in CO

... and he and his family moved to Colorado from Illinois in 2008. This is his 16th year teaching at Arapahoe High School and 21st year teaching high school chemistry and physics.

Mr. Lutz has been writing in the third person

... and he doesn't really know why, so he's going to stop now. I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about me!!!
