Jan. 3 1998 - "BOB" Dobbular at "BOB Popular" devival and electronica fest with Church of the SubGenius

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SubGenius 1998 New Years Gala and DJ Party
January 3, 1998 -- 8pm - 2am
"BOB" Popular

402 East 6th Street, Austin, TX AUSTIN, TEXAS -- December 7, 1997: As the approaching date for X-Day looms near, the faithful SubGenius in Texas are gathering for a "worship" ritual of millennial proportions. On Saturday, January 3, 1998, the Church of the SubGenius will assemble for ritual services in Austin, Texas, at a nightclub known as '"BOB" Popular', for an extended evening of preachings, healings, and electronica music.

As most of the cult's faithful have known for many years, J.R. "BOB" Dobbs is indeed quite "popular", so much so that a nightclub in Austin now bears this fact in its name.

The Church's Sacred Scribe, Ivan Stang, along with Dr. K'taden Legume, MC Pope Angus, Rev. Nickie Deathchick, Jesus H. Christ, and many others will be on hand to impart words of sacred inspiration to the faithful during these dawning moments, give or take a couple days, of this Last Year during which the spaceships of the alien sex goddesses are prophesied to arrive.

Herb from Alien Records in Austin, along with a lineup of well-known DJs across Texas, will be spinning throughout the night, and those ever-loveable Satan's Cheerleaders will also be on hand, assisting the audience.

This event is sponsored in part by Alien Records and Steve Jackson Games, and produced by FringeWare. Admission is $5 before 10pm, and $9 after; Satan's Cheerleaders will provide a soul check @ door for $1.

"It's not like this sort of thing hasn't ever happened before," said Paco Xander Nathan, president of FringeWare, Inc., who was overheard mumbling utterances at a recent unholy ritual. "We all did a show together back in September, 1997, and that was intense!"

Events alleged to occur at the previous gathering reportedly included sex with pre-teens, public spankings, and a mass suicide ritual administered by scantly-clad nubile young females known to have cavorted with the Prince of Darkness himself. In fact, the devout management team at La Zona Rosa shut down that orgiastic ceremony early, mostly due to their horror at seeing the public spankings. Unfortunatly, the management at "BOB" Popular hasn't been inside a Baptist church in years, so this event will probably go on all night unchecked.
