Planning travel to Japan in June 2008

1) Dates

The conference lasts from June 25 till 27. The travel is planned for two weeks around this time.
Suggested dates June 14-28 or June 23 – July 7.

2) Air tickets

Aeroflot is the cheapest but it has very long overlay in Moscow. Not worth it.
Finnair is the second cheapest:
Flying to Tokyo on Tue, Thu(*), Sat, Sun, returns on Mon, Wed, Fri 611 Ls = 1364 USD
              Nagoya on Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat, returns on Tuesdays only 573 Ls = 1279 USD
              Osaka on ??

3) JR pass
Should be bought outside Japan and exchanged to actual pass in Japan upon arrival with tourist status.

7 day ordinary 28,300 YEN = 283 USD
14 day ordinary 45,100 YEN = 451 USD

ohaiyō gozaimasu – labrīt
konnichiwa – sveiki!
konbanwa – labdien, labvakar
ja mata ashita – uz redzēšanos līdz rītdienai
sayonara – uz redzēšanos (uz ilgu laiku)


sumimasen = atvainojiet
gomēn nasai = piedodiet

ratubia kara kimashita = es esmu no Latvijas
nihongo wa dekimasen = es nerunāju japāniski
eigo ga dekimaska = vai jūs runājat angliski?
