2008 #7

Hi All,

Just a couple of quick (but very important) notices...

James Aperahama Memorial
-----------------------------------------
As you are aware last November we lost a great friend and clubman when James Aperahama died as a result of a diving accident. Such was the loss that some members have decided to set up a memorial for James.  It has been decided that the best type of memorial for him is something living that will also enhance the club so we have settled on planting a kowhai tree and then at a later date some sort of plaque or stone to go with the tree.

So this Saturday morning ( July 17th ) at 10.00am there will be a tree planting ceremony at the club.  It isn’t anything elaborate but we would like to extend an invitation to all club members to attend if they would like to.

Juniors
----------
I am pleased to announce that thanks to the efforts of Linda Ditchburn, John Evans and Bruce Jeffries we now have our Juniors back up and running.  Junior coaching will be run from 4:30 pm on Thursdays.  Note that two courts will be reserved for Juniors (and may extend to all three if we get enough interest), so bear that in mind if you are trying to come down early for general club night (which starts at 6pm on Thursdays).

Winter Interclub
----------------------
The first round of winter interclub has finished, and teams will now be promoted or relegated according to their performance.  In other words, now that we have lulled the opposition into a false sense of security it is time to pick our game up and start winning.  The second round will start on the 4th/5th of August, so look out for an updated draw.

Cheers,

Glen.
