MAKE A FILM FOR KINO

I need ideas!

1. Get inspired, watch other films made for Kino - here or around the world.
2. Find yourself a screenwriter.
3. Need a kick up the backside? Ask for a Kino challenge at the next screening (or on our Facebook Group).
4. Kino films can be just about anything... fiction or documentary, animation or experimental, narrative or abstract. Document an event or take a camera with you on your travels, interview someone you admire or remake you favourite feature film in under 10 minutes... everything is possible!

I need a team!

1. Tell everyone about your project and what you're looking for (at a Kino screening, on our Facebook page). Kino screenings are full of talented people - including musicians, actors, fashion designers, jugglers...
2. Register for a Kabaret and join/create a team with fellow participants.
3. Offer your services to a pre-existing cast or crew.

I need equipment!

1. You can borrow a Canon HV20 or HV30 camera and tripod from the Kino office free of charge. Simply call 02 9281 5608 and tell us the dates you'll need the camera so we can make a booking.
2. Kino recommends Metro Screen for any equipment hire: cameras, lights, tripods, sound recording, blue screen etc.
3. Kino recommends Hire Intelligence for any short term iMac rentals.
4. Another option is to ask fellow kino filmmakers with eauipment if they can lend you stuff or work on your project. You can do that at a screening or on the wall / bulletin board of our Facebook Group.

I need music!

1. We will screen films with "borrowed" music but we encourage you to get your own...
2. Ask musicians around you if they can lend you a track or compose an original score.
3. Check out the tracks on our music for your film page.

I've made a film for Kino, now what?

1. Register to screen it at the next Kino Sydney. Simply email us the title, length and number of your desired screening (e.g. Kino #25).
2. Show up with your film on DVD on the day of the screening, and hand it to the projectionist. When your name is pulled out of the hat, you'll get a chance to introduce your work.
3. If you like, post it on YouTube (with the tag "kino sydney" so we can add it to the Kino Sydney Channel) and on our Facebook Group.
4. You can also post pictures of the shoot or the screening on our Flickr Group.
4. If it's good, why not submit it to other short film nights and film festivals?
