The use of cloud computing by the Federal Government has just begun. I've seen a lot of talk about the federal government using cloud computing, however I have only seen small real life examples of them using it. This home page is kind of my scratch pad for research around cloud computing by the federal government. This isn't a formal site so you'll see some things that are incomplete. So far I've only seen one concrete deployment of cloud infrastructure for the Federal Government: I am researching others though. And welcome your suggestions if you know of any: info@kinlane.com. I think there is a lot of education that needs to occur of government officials regarding cloud computing and what it is. They have to be informed about the potential of cloud computing for the government, businesses, their constituents, our economy and the overall strength of the United States in the world. There are a lot of security and privacy concerns to be addressed before cloud computing can be fully embraced by the federal government. There will be policy and legislation that will need to be defined to ensure the healthy international growth of cloud computing and interroperability between service providers. I think overall there is a lot of ripe opportunities within the Federal, State, and Local Governments for cloud computing, we just need to identify them, then educate and evangelize and show what cloud computing can do. |
