Research Assignment Class Work is
As I am just trying to improve your sentence structure - no effort is being made to make these 'Compound-Complex' Sentences.
Taiwan has a subtropical climate with moderate temperatures, and besides, it has typhoons and earthquakes.
Not the correct way to use 'and besides'
"And besides" = the real point you are making. The points will be all good or all bad and the "and besides" will be the most important.
I don't like china because the people are yellow, have black hair and brown eyes, besides, they won't let Tibet be independent.
I don't like him because he is a foreigner, he is fat, he is ugly, and besides, he smells!
Get your figures right. Does Taiwan have 230,000 people or 23,000,000 people?
23,682,179 people is not an approximate number. About / approximately 23.5 million people - almost 24 million people - more than 23 million people.
Make sure that you re-read the page about Deconstruction, Collating and Rewriting

Leftovers:

Most of Taiwan's 23 million people (about 98%), live in Taipei (Capital), Gaoxiong and Jilong, and most enjoy a high standard of living. Industries include Fishing, Export Trade, production of TV sets, Movie Production, and various 'arts', as well as tourism (eg: Sun Moon lake).

Paragraph 1 was completed in class - the rest I did for homework - Luo Laoshi (even I have homework)
P.1 Taiwan, an island country which is surrounded by East China Sea, Philippine Sea, South China Sea and Taiwan Straight, locates in east China. It has subtropical climate with moderate temperature, also has a population, about 23 million.
Taiwan, with it's subtropical climate and moderate temperatures, is an island province of China, located off the East Coast in the middle of the East and South China Seas, the Philippine Sea and the Taiwan Strait, and it has a population of about 23 million people. (The 'it' makes it an independent clause. Without 'it', it is a dependent clause.)
P.2 It's capital, TaiBei, one of the major cities (? Gaoxiong, Jilong), has the most people than any other cities in Taiwan. As one of the most famous places of interest, Sun Moon Lake attracts lots of tourists all over the world every year.
Generally speaking the Capital will be one of the Major Cities - exception - Australia, where the Capital city [Canberra] is a hole in the ground in the middle of nowhere.
Of the major cities, the Capital TaiBei has the most citizens. One of Taiwan's most famous places of interest is Sun Moon Lake which attracts around ____ international tourists every year.
Both these pieces of information are out of place. They don't form a unity. The first sentence belongs in Paragraph one. The second belongs in the first part of paragraph 3.
P.3 Taiwan government encourages industries, especially fishing and Export Trade, and produces large numbers of TVs, movies, Art, which. benefit. Taiwan's economy much and contributes to people's high living standard. At the same highly developed education makes lots of talents work in high-tech areas.
Look at all those misplaced 'full-stops / periods' . and . and . and, and. Where does the sentence start and finish?
The Taiwan government encourages ---- and ---- produces large numbers of TVs. REALLY?
Got to read and rewrite - read and rewrite - read and rewrite - all the while checking the grammar. What does this mean? What do I mean? What meaning will others get from this. 'The Taiwan government produces TVs and Movies.'
Perhaps we could write:
The Taiwanese people enjoy a high living standard, partly because of their high educational standards and qualifications, and partly because the Government encourages industries that contribute to Taiwan's overall economic prosperity. It encourages Tourism (Sun Moon Lake), the movie industry, TV set production, various Arts, the fishing industry and general trade export.
(As we all know) Taiwan, as a part of (haha - you changed it) China, was controlled by Nationalist Party. What's worse, Chen Shuibian strongly wanted . independence, which went against the will of most Chinese people, therefore, we must prevent independence, only in that way can we have a stable and united, country.
I take it that the brackets mean that you realised that not ALL OF US know this.
Taiwan as part of China was not controlled by the Nationalist party. This would mean that they controlled China. I don't think this is your meaning. Is Chen Shuibian a member of the Nationalist Party. You guys need to figure this out. He in fact was the leader of the DPP - Democratic Progressive Party. Your wording makes it seem that he is Nationalist Party.
Although Taiwan is a part of China, it is currently controlled by the Nationalist Party, following the defeat of Chen Shuibian (DPP), the former leader who wanted to establish the formal independence of Taiwan. Taiwan independence is contrary to the will of the Chinese people, and only by preventing it (Taiwan independence) can we have a stable and united country.

What war? When did the war occur? When did Saddam leave Power. Are the names Saddam and Jalal Personal names or Family names?
The next paragraph provides details about the war and the time frame - so it really should go BEFORE this one.
P. 3
In March 20, 2003, America invade Iraq for weapons of mass destruction, so it can control Iraq's oil resource.
Did America invade because of weapons of mass destruction - or - to get control of the oil - or BOTH. The sentence is not clear.
On March 20, 2003, as an excuse to gain control over Iraq's oil reserves, America invaded Iraq on the pretext of looking for weapons of mass destruction. They overthrew [or you could say 'ousted'] Saddam Hussein, replacing him [or - who was replaced] on April 6th 2005, by Jalal ______.
P.4
As one of the 4 birth places of civilization, it has several universities, 1 military academy and many famous places, such as Ashur, Hatra (?), the ancient city of Babylon.
As one of the 4 birth places of civilization, it has several universities. This means that it only has several universities because it is one of the birth places of civilizations.
Iraq, which is one of the four birthplaces of civilization, is known for such famous places as Ashur, Hatra, and the ancient city of Babylon.
The sentence about universities and academies doesn't really fit here. That would be in a section about society in general or education.
I think I will have to pay special attention to you and help you with compound-complex sentences.
Basic Problems and Corrections from Taiwan homework essay
Climate
As Taiwan is a beautiful island, there is no real winter and it has a moderate temperature, but earthquakes often happened and Typhoons often happen from June to October.

Baseball

Taiwan and the PRC
As I have said many times, English Language Culture applies meaning to language that is not found in the dictionary, and Chinese political ideology has no right to insist that Native English speakers CHANGE ENGLISH to suit Chinese political ideology. What is written below is about English Language culture and Political ideology.
Example:
Taiwan has a complicated history, which belongs to a part of PRC.
Firstly, the history of Taiwan does not belong to the PRC or even to China. The history is part of the history of China. The Island belongs to China or even the PRC.
Taiwan, which is claimed by the PRC, never belonged to the PRC. It belonged to the Qing Dynasty, and then the Nationalist Government. That government fled to Taiwan and established their rule there.
If you want to argue about Taiwan's history, you can't argue that it belonged to the PRC, because prior to the PRC it belonged to the Nationalist government and that government is still there.
It is safer to say, that Taiwan has always been a part of China, and that as China is ruled by the Government of the PRC, Taiwan should not declare formal independence, and that it is still very much a part of China.
Once you bring a 'political issue' into a discussion, YOU GIVE PERMISSION FOR A POLITICAL ARGUMENT.
Saying that Taiwan historically belonged to the PRC, invites a political argument - (based on normal English meaning of the expression)
Saying that Taiwan historically belongs to China, avoids that particular argument.
About Chen Shuibian:
Many students have written things like: 'We must fight against Chen Shuibian and his desire for independence'..........
Statements like this makes no sense!
Chen Shuibian is no longer president and his party is no longer in power. Therefore references to fighting against HIM make no sense.
Chen Shuibian and his party the DPP tried their best to get the people of Taiwan to declare formal independence from China. As a Chinese person I cannot accept Taiwan independence and I believe that we must all fight against such moves.
Fight against the person WHO IS calling for independence. Fight against the GOVERNMENT THAT WANTS independence, but fighting against a person who has no power and who is now in jail is pointless.
Mixing Topics in a Paragraph
There are 23 million people who have a high living standard (don't the rest have it?) , 98% of them live in the capital - Taipei and the rest, about 0.2 million in Gaoshan. Gaoxing and Jilong are its other major cities and its also famous for Sun Moon Lake.
Also famous............... There was no previous mention of 'famous' so 'also famous for Sun Moon Lake' is out of order here.
The paragraph begins with population size, then to cities where the population live. the clause at the end is out or order. it could be included if you rewrite the sentence.
About 98 % of Taiwan's 23 million people, most of whom have a high living standard, live in the capital, Taipei, while the rest, including the .2 million Gaoshan people, mostly live in Taiwan's two other renowned cities; Gaoxing and Jilong. Another renowned place in Taiwan is Sun Moon Lake which, because it attracts travellers from all over the world, adds to Taiwan's development and high living standard.
Zhangmin is one of several who turned in papers with only few errors, but which were a little immature.
The quicket way to develop maturity as a writer is to read a lot. I would suggest that you all READ descriptive articles about Taiwan and note HOW they are written (not what they write). Decontruct them to see how they were put together (from an outline). Note how the writer expresses himself in his descriptive passages. Note how the writer expresses his opinion (without the need to say: 'in MY opinion') Taiwan is a Island! NO! IT IS an island.
