Devil or Angel?
It’s a question I find myself asking a lot when trying to differentiate the voices in my head at 3 a.m. Sometimes
the answer is clear…but usually not….Satan is a tricky Devil, or Angel? Devil or Angel is a story about one man’s
experience’s and struggles with living life caught in the crossfire from the ongoing war between Good and Evil in
the world….a war that I for one would have snickered at in my youth. But, after a half century of surviving those
battles, I am now a firm believer that this war is real, is ongoing, and involves each and every one of us. There
is evil in this world, and it is promoted by Satan and his demons. Not some cartoon character in a red suit, but
something much more subtle, much more sinister. A fallen angel, evicted from Heaven, when his desire to be like
God overtook his purpose of serving God. The Devil clearly believes that misery loves company as he endeavors to
recruit each of us to follow him into the separation from God, that is Hell. Or, as Peter wrote “Your enemy the
devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
The good news is that the majority of the heavenly host of Angels remained loyal to God and continue to serve Him,
and us, to this very day. They worship God fully, and are His messengers, and His army in the battle against evil,
which is at its heart a battle for our eternal souls. I find it interesting that even after we have been sealed by
the Holy Spirit, and marked by the sign of the cross forever, we are not immune from attacks by The Devil. Why
should we be when even Jesus came under Satan’s attack? In fact, I believe that the assault intensifies once God
has chosen us for His side. Even when our souls are lost to Satan, he’ll nonetheless assail us if only to minimize
the effectiveness of our witness to others. Fortunately for us, we have a multitude of Angels on our side, not to
help us avoid the battle, but to help us through the battle and on to the Victory.
I have great hope that this show will entertain, with irony, humor, and some great song and dance. We may also
touch a nerve…perhaps even a raw nerve. But the overriding goal is much, much larger. On the anniversary of one
of the most evil acts in history, we aim to expose Satan for the fraud he is by shining the light of God’s truth on
him. In that light he will flee….like a cockroach. We hope above all to shine a light on God’s Grace, Mercy and
Power….all of which will beyond a shadow of a doubt win out in the end.
Yours in Christ,
