Places Menu

Keeping Your Own Stuff

The Places menu is where Google Earth puts the placemarks and overlays (among other things). These can be temporary or saved.

Placemark Organization

You can create new folders in your Places Menu.

Right click on My Places and choose the Add item. Fill in the fields on the popup menu.

Saving your Places information

You can keep a copy of your Places items on your own computer for your own use or to share with other people.

Right click on the folder (or item) you want to save.
Choose Save Place As.
Fill in the location as appropriate.

The menu above has placemarks that are not organized.

A folder has been added to this menu and the relevant placemarks were dragged into the folder.
