 jluu [at] janetteluu [dot] com | From news reporter to host of her own current affairs show, Janette Luu has been in front of the camera for nearly a decade. Despite graduating from the University of Michigan with a B.S. in biology and Latin, Janette chose to pursue a career in broadcasting and hasn’t looked back. She began in news as a reporter and weekend anchor at the ABC affiliate in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 2006 Janette moved to Toronto to host CANOE Live on SUN TV. Shortly after her arrival in Canada, she was featured on CBC’s WireTap with Jonathan Goldstein in Season 2's “Mr. Helpful” episode. Offscreen, Janette has been a public radio host, a theatre performer, an independent film producer, and a creator of multimedia art events. She also launched a city-wide initiative that highlighted Fort Wayne's innovation, technology, arts, and downtown revitalization. She can be heard on the audio book for The Rise of the Creative Class: And How It's Transforming Work, Leisure, Community, and Everyday Life by Richard Florida, Academic Director of the Martin Prosperity Institute at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management. Because of her extensive work in the community, Janette was honored as an inaugural member of the Future 40, Northeast Indiana's forty most dynamic people under the age of 40. She was also featured on the cover of the premiere issue of Fort Wayne Woman. In 2005 Janette won the $25,000 grand prize in Visa's Ideas Happen contest, in which she submitted her idea for an immersive experience called Project Inspire. |
