Caring for Creation
Celebrating and Protecting our Precious Planet
We are constantly amazed and grateful for this beautiful world that we live in! We also feel responsible for helping to care for it.
There are lots of signs that humans are making choices that are endangering Earth and Earth's creatures.
Thankfully, there are also lots of signs that people are listening to the cries of creation and starting to make different choices.
We invite you to join us in learning more about the problems that we are creating, and the choices that we can make to protect and preserve our one and only world.
Things you can do:
- Educate yourself! Find an environmental issue that interests you (e.g. climate change, pesticide use, mercury contamination) and Google It! There are lots of resources available on the internet.
- Look at your electricy and gas bills and track your usage (here's a spreadsheet to help) -- then resolve to decrease your usage by at least 10% over the next year.
- Do a home energy audit - Click here. Make improvements to make your home more energy efficient.
- Replace 4-5 of your most commonly used incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs (they use 70% less energy)
- Organize a viewing of An Inconvenient Truth or Kilowatt Ours - or invite a volunteer with The Climate Project to speak to a group to which you belong.
- Join with others in organizing for policy change on April 14th, 2007 -- The National Day of Climate Action
