Over the week beginning May 12th 2008 a debate erupted surrounding the future of personal social data (data about you and your friends, sometimes called the social graph). That week saw significant discussions, some of which are referenced here: The Gillmor Gang of May 16th 2008 Mike Arrington and Eric Schonfeld of TechCrunch Chris Saad of Data Portability Project Dan Farber of CNet Marc Canter of People Aggregator fame There is a very good overview of the state of play here, written by Dare Obasanjo. In the months leading up to this debate, many Silicon Valley strategists began to focus on the "social graph". Marc Canter, Chris Messina, Dave McClure, Kevin Marks and others have all contributed. I have shared many of their videos here |
