In order for us to move from the Servant age to the Citizen age there are some small steps that need to be taken. These are not difficult. Chris Messina, with DiSo and Marc Canter with his People Aggregator, have identified some of these things, and even begun implementations. Nicolas Popp with his post today addresses the identity element well. What is needed is a harmonizing effort, without commercial self-interest, to create the tools and infrastructure to an Internet of Citizens. All service providers will benefit from the success, because users, with free choice, will be able to engage in the network fully, with their relationships, and their history, intact and accessible.
