Iqra School Student Council site!

The Studnet Council is made up of class representatives from years 5-6. It provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate leadership by representing their peers. They organise fundraisers, alert the headteacher to student concerns and vice versa, and act as role models for their peers. The Council

  • Every September each class will vote for a class member to represent the class in the Council meetings.
  • The Council will meet every 2 weeks (unless the business is not finished and we meet the following week, then 2 weeks after that).
  • There will be a chairperson to lead the meeting and a secretary to write the minutes
  • The secretary will send out the agenda before the meeting
  • The Council will decide at the end of each meeting what they will discuss the next meeting.
  • When we vote on an idea then the majority vote wins.
  • The Chair and secretary of the meetings will rotate between Year 5 and Year 6 members.  (Younger members will be encouraged to take over when they feel confident.)
