We have implemented a CCC imaging system at Vancouver Talmud Torah now.
There are now a few simple steps to creating a new image for deployment.
- Make the necessary modifications to an iMac then reboot in target disk mode
- Rename the HD of another iMac and create an image of the firewire mounted "Macintosh HD" to a DMG on the desktop
- When the DMG has been created, drag it into Disk Utility, select the image, then choose the images menu, and "Scan for Restore"
- When this process has completed, copy it to the SP0Images share on the server, rename to VTTBlack.dmg
- Using Apple Remote Desktop, set the startup disk on all computers to network, and check the "reboot when complete" box.
- Thats it! Imaging takes about 2 TB of network traffic, so be patient...
