FROM THE MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
June 26, 2009 Dear Innovation Families: Our first year at 72 Tyng Road has come to an end. Thank you so much to all family members who made this year possible. Without the help and support of families, we would never have been able to get moved in or the complete this year as successfully as we did. Final assessments will go out in the mail next week. Enjoy your weekend and summer. We will see you at the Ice Cream Social! Best, Kathleen Seward
Emergency Forms If you have not turned in a new emergency form for the 2009-200 school year, please do so ASAP. Students without new forms will not be able to start school on September 1st. If you lost the form that was mailed home to you, the form is available on the school website. IACS Daycare We are working to create a daycare facility on campus for the children of IACS staff. If this initiative becomes a reality or next year, we will be seeking donation of items for the center. We will be looking for: inside and outside toys, pack and plays, infant swings, bouncy seats, and excersaucers. If you have infant or toddler items such as these that you would be willing to donate, please contact Erin Attfield Quinlan. (x2233) 8th Grade Families Attached to this issue of the Connection are two important documents for students who will be entering the 9th grade at IACS this fall. The attached summer reading list explains the summer reading requirement. Please note that summer reading assessments/ book discussion take place in the first week of school so the summer reading requirement needs to be completed before the start of school. Additionally, the High School dress code is attached. The dress code description is designed to assist families as they do summer and back-to-school shopping. Feel free to contact Sasha Douglas, sdouglas@innovationcharter.org or Greg Orpen, gorpen@innovationcharter.org with questions. Pictures from this year’s 8th grade semi can be found on the Billerica Town website at: www.billerica.org From the 5/6 Health classes:
The 5/6 Health classes just finished up a 10 week unit on Drugs, Alcohol and Tobacco. All 5/6 students will be bringing home their health folders from this past year. In the folders you will find all the work that we have done over the past school year.
Library Volunteers We would like to thank all our wonderful library volunteers who helped keep our library running this year. Special thanks to Julie Mattar and Kerry Wellenstein for keeping everyone organized and to Janet Morris for running this year's bookfairs. We would also like to thank all the families who so generously donated money and books to expand our collection. We will all miss Debbie Curtiss and Sheryl Jendrock, who supported the library in so many ways for many years! THANKS! |
