Prakash Mondal is interested in issues of how the faculty of language works in human cognition and how it links to problems of meaning, computation and biology.

He has investigated the nature of the computational properties of natural language, the biolinguistic basis of knowledge of language, the nature of logical form with respect to the issue of semantic computation, the form of linguistic computation vis-à-vis the cultural grounding of cognition, the formal properties of linguistic meaning that obtains at the interface linking language to cognitive structures underlying emotive expressions, and also the nature of machine cognition in relation to computation.
