Second Grade Homework Policy

• Homework folders will go home every Monday.  Homework should be completed and turned in on Friday. Please make sure you sign the homework coversheet, so I know that you have checked your child's homework. Also, please initial for each day that your child read 20 minutes.

• Please reinforce the idea that homework is the responsibility of the student. Let your student turn in the folder each Friday and take the responsibility for it if it is forgotten. I will allow the occasional late homework, but if it becomes a pattern then students will have further consequences.

• When help is needed have your child read the directions to you and explain what he/she thinks needs to be done.

• There are occasions when homework cannot be completed on time. Please just write me a note so I know what the situation is.

• I do not want homework to become a battle. If your child does not want to do their homework, take out a timer and set it from 30 minutes and walk away. When the timer goes off kindly take the homework away and tell your child that they will have another opportunity to complete homework the next day. Do this each day and be consistent. By Friday if homework is not completed he/she can explain to Mrs. Longpre why it wasn't done.
