Mrs. Earls' Class

Homework

Second Grade Homework Policy
  • Homework folders will go home every Monday.  It should be completed and turned in on Friday. Please make sure you sign the homework coversheet, so I know that you have checked your child's homework. Also, please initial for each day that your child read 20 minutes.
  • Please reinforce the idea that homework is the responsibility of the student. Let them turn in the folder each Friday and allow them to take the consequences if they forget the homework. I will allow the occasional late homework, but if it becomes a pattern then students will have further consequences.
  • When help is needed have your child read the directions to you and explain what he/she thinks they need to do.
  • There are occasions when homework cannot be completed on time. Please just write me a note so I know what the situation is.
  • I do not want homework to become a battle. If your child does not want to do their homework, take out a timer and set it for 30 minutes and walk away. When the timer goes off kindly take the homework away and tell your child that they will have another opportunity to complete homework the next day. Do this each day and be consistent. By Friday if they did not complete their homework have them explain to Mrs. Earls why it is incomplete.
