How does AR work?
AR Sessions run for 6 weeks. During this time, students read books in their AR level and take comprehension tests on the computer when they complete each book. Books have a point value from half of a point on up. Most second grade books are .05 or 1 point. If your child receives less than a 100% he/she will receive a fraction of the total point value. If they receive 60% or less they will receive 0 points for the book. Each student has a point goal for the 6 week term and should read and test to meet this goal. Students may test before school in the classroom, during computer lab time, or every day during our silent reading time. AR updates are sent home mid session and at the end of each session. Almost all books are AR books. We access the test library online and are not limited to tests we buy. Students may read books from (and at) home, from the public library, and from our school and classroom library. If you would like to see if a book from the public library or your home library is AR you can check this website. www.arbookfind.com |
