Grade Concert band is dedicated to playing ability approprite music at
the highest levels. Incoming 6th grade band members are split into two
classes band upon balanced instrumentation and need. There is no
audtion required and the two bands are not based upon ability. The 7th
grade bands perform separately at concerts in December, March, and
May. Additionally, the 7th grade bands combine with the other bands to
perform in the Howell Fantasy of Lights Parade over the Thanksgiving
weekend and the Hartland Memorial Day parade.
- 8th Grade Symphonic Band
- 8th
Grade Symphonic band is dedicated to playing ability appropriate music
at the highest levels. The 8th grade symphonic band performs at four
annual concerts including: the Monster Mash at the end of October, the
Holiday Spectacular in December, and concerts in March, and May.
Additionally, the 8th Grade Symphonic Band combines with the other
bands to perform in the Howell Fantasy of Lights Parade over the
Thanksgiving weekend and the Hartland Memorial Day Parade. The 8th
Grade Symphonic Band will also provide entertainment at various school
and public events throughout the school year.
- Jazz Ensembles

- Jazz
Band is offered during the school day during the second semester to 8th
grade students only. Jazz Band is dedicated to the study and
performance of jazz classics at the highest level. An intense study of
improvisation is incorporated throughout the semester with an emphasis
placed in student input and creativity. Jazz Band performs at concerts
in March and May and will also provide entertainment at various school
events throughout the semester.
- Jazz Ensemble
- Jazz
Ensemble is held one or two days a week after school for the duration
of the school year. This ensemble is open to any student interested.
We will explore improvisation as well as performing at various concerts
and events.
- Marching Band
- Marching
band consists of all band members (except jazz band) and presents
performances at the Howell Fantasy of Lights Parade and the Hartland
Memorial Day Parade. Rehearsals for Marching Band are incorporated in
the school day through the regularly scheduled classes. One or two
after school rehearsals may be neccessary prior to each performance to
establish the stability of the entire group.
- Color Guard
- Color
Guard is open to all students that are interested. We must audition as
a result of limited equipment available to us. Auditions are held
during the first few weeks of school following several instructional
clinics.
