Highland Neighborhood Committees

There are many volunteer opportunities to help make Highland Neighborhood a great place to live and work. The following is a description of the committees that are needed based on issues & interests facing the neighborhood and community interest.

If you would like to be on a committee, chair a committee, volunteer for something other than what is noted below, or want more information about volunteering, please complete the Volunteer/Committee Interest Form.

COMMITTEES

Volunteer Coordinator - Shirley Broussard  (512)-458-3265

Communications: (Sponsoring Officers are ???) - Website administration and maintenance; website content development; listserv administration and moderation; newsletter development, preparation; and newsletter advertisement sales.
Needs: Committee Chair.

Membership: (Sponsoring Officer is ???) - Member recruitment and maintenance and upkeep of the member list and dues, block captain recruitment, placement of signs throughout neighborhood before meetings.
Needs: Committee Chair.

Finance: (Sponsoring Officer is Joann Rees) - Support to the neighborhood treasurer, and research expenditures for best value.
Needs: Committee Chair.

Beautification: (Sponsoring Officer is ???) - Develop and manage beautification projects in the neighborhood, ensure maintenance and mowing of esplanades. 
Needs: work on esplanades to clean up, identify areas for plantings.

Events: (Sponsoring Officer is Debbie Wahrmund) - Plan and advertise neighborhood events, such as the March Pot Luck Supper, Fourth of July Parade, National Night Out in August, Holiday Decorating Contest, and Neighbor of the Month Contest. 
Needs: Help with Neighbor of the Month, assist with quarterly meeting hospitality, judge for December holiday decorating contest.

Planning/Zoning/Transit: (Sponsoring Officer is Katrina Daniel) - Monitor and interact with the city on issues affecting the neighborhood, and identify properties that are violating city codes/zoning. Chair - Jeff Hitt.
Needs: Contact Jeff to inquire about current needs since there are several issues this committee will address.
