Teaching is not just a gig, but a passion for Ms. Mayes.  She has taught 10 semesters of acting at University of Virginia, as part of her graduate work, in the areas of Basic Acting and Physical Acting.  Heather was an intersession theatre teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools.  There, she taught grades 3-5 in an Intro to Theatre class as well as Musical Theatre.  In the fall of 2007, Heather taught the Beginning Acting class for 6-10 year olds at Bay Theatre, in Annapolis, MD. Most recently, she was a guest speaker at Crestwood Elementary School in Springfield, VA where she spoke to the 5-6^th grade Chorus/Drama class about ways to improve their performance.  She has performed in plays, musicals, and ballets in New York, Virginia, Maryland, and Japan. In addition to performing and teaching, Heather has also worked as a dialect coach and choreographer.

Heather hopes to become a full-time Professor of Drama later in life in addition to having a family and enjoying a successful acting career.
