Azi Gamez
Lead Teacher and Inclusion Coordinator March 2009 Dear Parents, I hope you are enjoying the new website! Please remember to check our website once a month for up to date information on not only our class but also special events happening at the school. Stepping Stones just wrapped up it's unit on "The House". We used this common enviroment to help our students practice word recall, learn functions, build vocabulary as well as practice following 2-3 step directions. When at home please encourage your children to learn new vocabulary for items around the house that they normally are not exposed to. Also encourage your child to help with chores around the house to help them work on following 2-3 step directions and to help learn functions of items hands on. Within our class we worked on making our beds, cleaning our rooms and washing cars. Please refer to the vocabulary list below to see what words and functions your child is worked on in class last month!
This month we will be using the theme "The Solar System" to work on attributes/opposites, using adjectives within our sentences, answering simple and complex wh- questions and to play fun and interactive games to work on our social communication with peers.
Please take note that on April 9th we will be walking to the park on Civic Center Drive (by the Dubin Library) to have a fun filled "Spring Fling" with our 3-4's and extended care classes. We will be having an egg hunt, a short music class and playing lots of fun games to keep us amused at the park. Please pack a water bottle and a special snack for your child to eat while at the park.
Also please remember that School of Imagination will be closed April 10th-17th for Spring Break. Classes will resume on April 20th.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact me at azi@schoolofimagination.org.
We look forward to seeing you at the school! Sincerely, Ms. Azi Azi Gamez Lead Teacher and Inclusion Coordinator azi@schoolofimagination.org 925-829-9552 x 712 Kitchen Vocabulary and Functions List
