BRIDGE KINDERGARTEN

October has been such a great month! We started the month with a trip to the pumpkin patch. Thank you parents for attending the pumpkin patch. It was so much fun. I have some great pictures of the kids in the corn and a wonderful class picture of us all on the tractor ride that I will try to get out to you soon. We have closed up this month with making pumpkin play dough which was a messy but fun project, pumpkin math, carving pumpkins, and our Halloween parade.  Thank you so much to all who attended the party and parade. I loved all the costumes and the parade was fabulous! Along with pumpkins and Halloween themes, we also talked a lot about spiders and fall.

We will be starting off November with Scarecrows.  Our themes for November will include scarecrows, 5 senses, Turkeys and Thanksgiving.   In reading, we will review the letters: c, h, w, and d. We will also continue our work with the –ug chunk.  In Writer’s Workshop, we will continue to label our writing and begin putting more letters and words on our page. I introduced a new kind of paper that has a place for writing and a place for drawing.  This will encourage them to write a little bit more on their paper as well.  In math, we are working on patterning.  We will work on more difficult patterning, for example ABC patterns and ABB patterns.

Just to clarify about the books we borrow from the library. You can return the books by yourself when your child is finished reading them or you can send them on the day we go for us to return. They are due 3 weeks from when we check them out. That is about how long I plan each library visit. They also print out a receipt that has the due date on it as well.

Homework- I had a few parents request that they keep the homework over the weekend. This is fine by me. If you would like to hold it over the weekend and turn it in on Monday please feel free to do so.

Our Halloween Party and Parade was a success. A special Thanks to Gingin and Anita for planning and organizing this event. It couldn’t have been done without you! Also, many thanks to all of the parents for bringing things and attending. It is greatly appreciated!

No School on November 11th due to Veterans Day.

No School on November 25-27th for Thanksgiving Break.

Thanksgiving Feast will be November 24th. More information to come as it gets closer. This will be less parent involvement.
