| But sleeping under the stars in my own bed is GREAT! Our town is growing so we have a lot of glow from the city lights and often since we are in the valley of 4 mountain ranges we have a blanket of clouds overhead and can't even see the stars. With our murals the darker the room is the better the stars show just like outside but I got to choose the constellation I see every night, picked a shooting star and the milky way. Best of all the tail of the shooting star slowly fades so it becomes just another of the stars in my sky and my stars are in a mixture so if I get up during the night the pattern will have changed by the stars that have lost their glow. I climb back into bed look around the ceiling of stars and drift off again. Since we babysit our grandchildren we had their room done. Well actually we had it done while Elizabeth was a baby so her name is done very small in the stars but she has a great big slice of smiling moon and milky way in the corner of her room. She always slept well as a baby and now usually five minutes or less is all it takes. That first year though I saw her looking up at the ceiling during the day but then going on with her play. After a few days it dawned on me...the moon was so big it's outline shows during the day so we outlined it in blue and added a cloud or two. She could still see it during the day but not the stars! During the day the stars are invisible against the off white ceiling but as the paint recharges every day come the dark and out they come just like the real thing. Ours are five years old now but the company has been in business for over 15 years so I have no fear they will disappear until I paint the ceiling again. Even then I have been told it will probably show through unless a primer is used first. My response...who cares I love my stars. |
