| Margins define the white space around your writing and are an indication of how you feel about the past, present and future. The left margin is the past, the writing the present and the right margin the future. The top margin is an indication of formality, and the bottom margin is usually ignored unless more than one page is written. When there are virtually no margins just writing from edge to edge the writer knows no boundries. They have no respect for you and will be "in your face". With a small left margin the writer clings to the past, family and security. If the left margin is irregular and keeps pulling back to the past the person is very dependent upon their family, in particular their mother. If, however, the left margin pulls more and more to the right the writer is enthusiastic or in a hurry and cannot slow down to return to the margin first established. If the right margin is irregular but not large the writer shows the ability to judge if his writing will allow the next word he plans to write. When the right margin gets larger because it pulls away fron the right side of the page the writer has reason to fear the future, to resist going into the future. Sometimes the writing crashes into the right edge and the writing has to be made smaller to fit or the writer will continue writing up or down the edge of the page. These people do not learn from their mistakes but will make them over and over and wonder why bad things always happen to them. A top margin that starts very closeto the top belongs to the person who sets no limitations on himself and is intrusive. While the top margin of about 2" is more formal, a show of respect to the person receiving the communication. Bottom margins often are not used because the writing may be short and thus leave a large margin but that would not be counted. If the wording was more than the page could hold but only a few words would be on the next page some people will start writing smaller so as to not use a second page. This would be a thrifty person. But if the writer started crowding his words half-way down the page or less. Then the writer is not just thrifty but stingy. In a really old writing this was not being stingy but to preserve paper as it could be hard to obtain so every inch was sometimes used. Writing from Europe during the war was often like this.
