Director, Immersive Learning Initiatives -- University of Nevada, Las Vegas Libraries

Reporting to the Research and Education Associate Dean/Division Director, the Director of Immersive Learning Initiatives provides leadership and oversight for the new UNLV Presidential Initiative, Immersive Learning/Dreamscape Learn and as a key manager within the UNLV Libraries and the Research and Education Division (RED) the incumbent is expected to contribute to the planning, development, management, and assessment of activities and initiatives in the department and within RED and the University Library as a whole.


The incumbent is responsible for direct supervision of staff and indirect supervision of student employees within the department. They facilitate access to technology and expertise and promote accessible and inclusive immersive learning experiences to bridge disciplines, build networks, and enable the discovery of new contexts for learning and scholarship within the virtual mediascape across campus. Performing a variety of activities necessary to support and grow Dreamscape Learn and future immersive learning initiatives at UNLV. 


As a department head, the incumbent works with library administration and staff throughout the University Libraries to provide services, develop and implement policies in a manner that ensures customer service excellence, and provide a welcoming and safe environment for users. The incumbent works collaboratively with librarians and staff across the library system on matters related to access services and policy and coordinates communication and training to ensure customer service excellence and consistent application of access services policies and procedures across all University Libraries. 


The incumbent participates in library and university committees and task forces related to primary job assignment as appropriate or assigned. As the department director, the individual is expected to maintain up-to-date professional knowledge and skills in areas related to primary job assignment by participating in appropriate professional development and continuing education activities in the library, on campus, and within the library profession.


The incumbent partners with subject matter experts and instructional designers to integrate immersive learning into their curriculum. They serve as a liaison between Dreamscape Learn and/or the Office of Online Learning and faculty to develop coursework and also partners with Instructional Technology to ensure the proper operation of technology and Learning Management System (LMS) integration.


Salary: This is a full-time, 12-month, Administrative Faculty position at a Grade C. Minimum salary is $88,500. Salary is competitive with those at similarly situated institutions and dependent upon labor market. Position is contingent upon funding.
