The instructions below start from the main corner in Bolton of King and Queen Street. South End of the Trail: Enter through the road maintenance yard on the west side of Highway 50 at Columbia Way 1.2km north of Bolton. Follow the fence at the south side of the yard. There is parking by the sports fields on the east side of Regional Road 50. Hikers are asked not to park in the entrance to the yard. This can affect access to the yards by trucks. This photo shows a view across Regional Road 50 towards the entrance. Map from Yards to Duffy's Lane South Duffy's Lane South: Go almost 3 km west from Bolton to Duffy's Lane then drive about 2.5 km north from King St. You'll cross the river and climb halfway out of the valley. This crossing has no stiles. To the west, the trail wends through a pine forest. To the east the trail follows a fence through a field. This photo is looking north. The trail crosses about where the shadow is. Map from Duffy's Lane South to Castlederg Castlederg Sideroad: Drive 4.5 km north from Bolton and turn left on the Castlederg Sideroad. Drive about 2 km west to the river. There are stiles by the road, one on the east side going south, the other on the west side going north. This photo is the east side of the bridge. The path to the south comes out here. This photo has the bridge is the foreground. The trail entrance to the north is at the driveway just past the shadows. Map from Castlederg to Duffy's Lane North Duffy's Lane North: Go about 6 km up Duffy's Lane from King Street. Just north of the bridge over the river, there is a stile to the west as shown in the photo which is a view to the South. The trail north from here follows picturesque Duffy's Lane for about 2 km. South end Albion Hills Conservation Area: Go 7.5 km north from Bolton. Turn west on Old Church Road. Go about 1.3 km to Duffy's Lane which peters out north of Old Church Road as shown in the photo. The trail goes north into Albion Hills Conservation Area. Part of it follows a ski/hiking trail within the park. The north entrance to the Trail: Go north from Bolton on Regional Road 50 to Old Church Road, go west for 2.8 km to Humber Station Road. Turn right and go north 1.8 km and turn right at the road shown in this photo. This leads into the back end of the Albion Hills Conservation area. The photo below shows where the trail leads just right of the low area. Rail Trail:For the northern terminus of the trail take a two minute walk north from this road to the Rail Trail. This abandoned rail line has been made into a wonderful walking/riding/biking trail that here forms part of the Bruce Trail. Hopefully soon a connection to the Oak Ridges Trail will also be made. |
