What I can change to help

For 6 months I am going to work on changing my energy use. I am going to do this by doing the following items. After 6 months when the season changes I will re-evaluate my progress, create a new list, and implement needed changes.

Household Energy

* Cut down on my use of water in the Kitchen and Bathroom.

            * Run the sink less often.

            * Take more showers then baths.

            * Carefully measure water in pans for what is needed.

* Start paying attention to what burners I use.

            * Looking at the size of the pan and the burners and choosing the most sensible one.

* Place the energy efficient bulbs in the ones that still have regular bulbs.

* Turn lights off in rooms when I’m not using them.

* Turn TV off when no one is watching.

* Turn radio off when no one is listening.

* Pay attention to my heating controls for accurate heating.

            * Check all controls periodically and adjust as needed.

Vehicle travel

* Walk more often to close designations

* In bad weather take public transportation instead of driving or riding in a car.

* Limit my car transportation to essential times.

* Performing proper car maintenance.

Air Travel

* No change--keep doing what I’m doing

Waste

* Recycle a large variety of trash.

            * Creating crafts out of some of my trash.

            * Cashing in bottles and cans.

            * Place plastic cartons, aluminum cans, and paper in recycling for pick up.

* Grow some of my own food.

* Buy local foods instead of imported.

* Use products with as little packaging as possible
