A regular wellness exam is the most valuable thing you can provide your pet. It allows our veterinarians to evaluate your pet’s general health and become aware of any health problems before they become serious illnesses. Animals are notorious for hiding signs of illness until very late in course of the disease. In addition to physical examination, our veterinarians may also wish to perform diagnostic tests, including blood tests and/or x-rays, to evaluate your pet’s health.  Vaccinations are important to protect your pet from many important infectious diseases. The specific vaccines your pet receives will be determined based your pet's specific needs and customized by our veterinarians. Most pets receive annual vaccines up until the age of 5 years at which time they begin to rotate on an every 3 year basis. Certain vaccines, such as the rabies vaccine, need to be given every year.  Puppies and kittens have unique needs requiring special attention. At this age, proper vaccination against infectious disease is critical. Parasite control and prevention is also stressed. In addition, we provide information on proper nutrition for your pet, discussion of house-training, and the importance of routine life-long checkups. Puppy and kitten exams are needed every 3 weeks until about 14-17 weeks of age.  Our veterinarians are trained to handle a wide range of medical problems. They rely on years of experience and the latest in medical diagnostics to diagnose and treat your pet. Our hospital is equipped with x-ray, ultrasound, in-house labwork capabilities, among many others. Our veterinarians also take advantage of outside laboratory services for non-emergency testing.  Our veterinarians perform a wide range of soft-tissue and orthopaedic surgeries. These include all routine surgeries, such as spays and neuters, as well as more advanced surgeries. Our fully equipped surgical suite allows for in-depth monitoring of surgery patients through the use of pulse oximetry, respiratory monitoring, cardiac monitoring, and fluid support. In addition, we use the latest and safest injectable and inhalation anesthetics.  Greene Animal Hospital relies on the latest in medical diagnostics as well. In addition to on-site laboratory testing, we offer x-ray, echocardiography (heart ultrasound), abdominal ultrasound, and eye pressure monitoring. To further our quality of care, we offer telemedicine services. This allows our doctors to enlist the help of specialists in the review of complex medical and surgical cases, ultrasound, and x-ray examinations. |
