THE HISTORY OF GRACE HARVEST CHURCH
1988 TO THE PRESENT
  • Moses Lake Prayer Meeting – Keith Easterly (Prayer Pastor currently) and others prayed for a revival and new thing in Moses Lake.  1987-1988
  • January 1988 - Pastor Ross Sterling from Cornerstone Church – Came to a Prophetic conference in Southern California put on by Timothy Sherman.
  • Pastor Ross invited Timothy to do a Prophetic Conference, and he said no for quite awhile before agreeing to come and do a 4 day conference starting April 28, 1988.
  • An ongoing renewal broke out that resulted in a new Church plant called Springs of Life Ministries of Moses Lake.  May 17, 1988

  • Timothy and Ross Sterling and his wife had strong disagreement resulting in Timothy and approximately 150-175  people being asked to leave.  This group began meeting in parks and homes.  July - September of 1988
  • Timothy Sherman led this new group of people to the Fig Street facility which we leased for the first 7 years.  Sept./Oct. 1988
  • Doug, Peggy and 4 month old Stephen Sherman moved to Moses Lake in November  of 1988 from Lancaster, California and Doug came on staff as a Youth Pastor on November 18, 1988.

  •  The church sponsors large Prophetic Conferences in July 1989 – Randy Shankle, November 1990 – Rick Joyner, 1991 – Bob Weiner, 1993 David Ravenhill and David Kitely.  People attended from all over the region – the conferences have a great impact!
  • David Minor gets involved in 1989 as Timothy Sherman considers moving on.  Dave helps to guide the church through a difficult season of transition as Timothy prepares to leave.
  • April 1990 – Timothy Sherman and family leave Moses Lake and go back to California, while David Minor becomes Senior Leader and Doug Sherman becomes pastor.
  • David and Dorothy Minor lead the church from 1990-1993 and help guide the church into some stability and health.  We are forever indebted to them.  David continues to minister regularly at GHC and is considered to be an Apostolic covering for GHC.
  • September 1991 – Doug goes to Russia with Bob Weiner and Timothy Sherman to do Leadership Conferences only about 10 days after the Soviet Union collapses.  College students and church leaders are raised up and go throughout the former Soviet Union to start churches.
  • July/August 1992 – A faction of about 35-40 people leave the church and start their own church.  This group of people served in various areas of ministry and leadership, leaving a big void to fill.  This is a very painful split which affects the church for about 3 years.  The Church now has about 110-120 people in attendance.  Eventually, the relationship is restored with these people and they give the church a love offering.
  • June 1993 – Doug Sherman is set in as the Senior Pastor.  1993-1996 – Dave Minor lives in Moses Lake, preaches regularly, and travels nationally and internationally from here.  In 1996, Dave and Dorothy Minor move to Vancouver, Wa.
  • 1993-1996 – Slow, steady growth and health develop as the leadership grows and we get involved in various missions works in Kenya, Inner-City Portland and elsewhere.  GHC participates in the annual MARCH FOR JESUS parade.
  • 1995-1996 – The church begins a Capital campaign to purchase the property at 313 Fig Street after 7 years of leasing.  In early 1996 we put a down-payment of $85,000 down after raising about $115,000 over the course of several months.  The campaign is called CROSSOVER INTO DESTINY.
  • 1988-1997 – Harvey/Sachiko and Joy Thomas are key people and leaders who move to California in 1997.  Harvey was business manager and head deacon.  Great family.  Harvey went to be with the Lord in 2002
  • 1996-1998 – The church is growing each year and the eldership now includes, Keith Easterly, Larry Brice, Dave Hubbard, Joe Geuer and Doug Sherman.

  • 1998 – Larry Brice comes on staff as Associate Pastor after years of faithful service as a volunteer.  Larry is an amazing addition as he counsels, leads worship, and fills a much needed gap in pastoral care at the church.
  • March/April 1998 – Dave Hubbard and Doug Sherman take their first mission trip to the Philippines beginning a long standing relationship with Peter, Pepe, and Ruben Mayyam and the children’s home, called MOUNTAIN OF HOPE, supporting orphans and abandoned children.
  • 1998-2001 – The church grows as many are added to Christ's kingdom and become disciples.  Continued growth and missions involvement in Ecuador, Philippines, Mexico, Moses Lake, Inner-City Portland, Christmas stockings locally etc…
  • GHC has PROPHETIC ASSEMBLIES in 1993, 1996 and 2001 that become high points of Vision, Purpose, and confirmation as we seek God for our destiny and future in Him.
  • 2001 – We go to two services on Sunday’s due to growth.  During the years 1996 to the present, we see many people come to Christ and change and grow.  Most of our church growth is due to new people and new converts.  Some of those people have become key leaders in our church family.
  • 2001-2003 – GHC experiences slow growth and many key families moving out of area due to economic struggles.  We send people all over the Northwest and nation equipped, and blessed.  The church is healthy and ready for new opportunities in the kingdom.
  • November 2003 – We start CHILDREN OF GRACE DAYCARE with Kelly Lewis as the coordinator.  It is doing very well.  As of 2007, we serve about 75 children and their families.
  • 2005 - GRACE HARVEST CHURCH purchases 15 acres of land on Division Street to build their future facility on.
  • August 2005 – Raul Figueroa is set in as a full time Youth Leader.  Raul and Candace are a great couple with a heart for the body of Christ and the Youth of our generation.  They lead extreme.life Youth, later to become, SWITCHED YOUTH, a growing and dynamic youth ministry reaching the churched and unchurched youth of the Columbia Basin.
  • October 2005 – Keith Easterly is set in as a Pastor over Prayer and Civic and Political Action.  Keith has been a faithful part of our church family from the beginning and an elder for many years.

  • October 2005-January 2006 – The Sherman family takes a much needed sabattical to Mexico to rest and renew.  Larry and the elders do  a great job of  staying the course and keeping the church healthy.
  • 2006-2007 – Several great families leave for new opportunities including Jim and Deea Paul, who were with us from the beginning.  Jim accepts a WORSHIP PASTOR position at an Alliance church in Bozeman, Montana in October/November 2006.  Other key families to leave in 2006 include – Paul and Shari Loeffler (Youth Pastors in Lolo, Montana), Carl and Julie Berglund, and Marc and Leanne Doney.
  • Keith Easterly is ordained as PRAYER PASTOR.  Keith is an elder and one of the original people that prayed for the church to begin.
  • November 2006 –2007 – Our much loved Associate Pastor, Larry Brice is diagnosed with colon cancer as Dave Hubbard and Doug Sherman are in the Philippines on a mission trip.  We rally around Larry and continue to ask God for a miracle of healing for Larry.
  • We have great expectation for 2007 as the church grows and we position ourselves to reach Moses Lake, the Columbia Basin and beyond and move on to the next level of God’s purposes.
  • September 6th, 2007, Pastor Larry James Brice went to be with the Lord Jesus as a result of colon cancer.  On September 11th, 2007, about 1000 people from Moses Lake and the Northwest attended his Memorial Service giving testimony to a wonderful PRINCE OF A MAN!
  • 2008 – We continued to move forward on our Building plans, but were slowed down due to the worldwide financial crisis.  Starting January of 2008 Pastor Doug assumed the role Regional Director of the Intermountain Region of MINISTERS FELLOWSHIP INTERNATIONAL.  The Intermountain Region includes Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho and Montana.
  • October 12, 2008 – Raul Figueroa is set in as Youth Pastor and Elder at GRACE HARVEST CHURCH.  At this point the attendance at Switched Youth Meetings is approaching 100 students with the average being 75-100 students.
  • 2008 – October – Drew Ecklund was added to the Staff of GRACE HARVEST CHURCH as our Worship Leader.  Drew joined us from Mountain Life Church in McCall, Idaho.  Drew’s wife, Rachel also joined out worship Department and has been working with children in our CHILDREN OF GRACE DAYCARE.
  • Early 2009 – We are moving forward on the Building with hopes of breaking ground in the Spring of 2009.  We are looking to start a 3rd service in March or April to make room for future growth.  Our Men’s Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, and Children’s Ministry are all healthier than they have ever been before.  Our GRACE GROUPS are better organized than ever, and we have great hopes that soon most of the church will be connected to a GRACE GROUP!
