| From the Rushworth Chronicle: November 27, 1891 A concert was held in the State School, Angustown, on November 20, its object being to raise funds for the purchase of prizes for the children attending the school. The building, which was nicely decorated with flowers and ferns, was well filled and the audience was very demonstrative in their applause, especially during the first part of the programme, which was devoted to children. The chair was taken by Mr W. Bazeley and the school sang "Welcome" in a hearty manner. The song "Three Little Flowers" by Misses M. Cameron, Emily and Mary Gorey, was unanimously encored and may be considered the gem of the evening. Recitations and songs by several of the scholars followed. A dialogue "Keeping School" by eight girls was well rendered, Miss M. Gorey acting as teacher. The children must have been well drilled to produce it in such excellent style. |
