  REFEREES NEEDED 
We have a critical need for referees to support the tremendous growth of Lacrosse in Illinois, the Position Paper provides some interesting facts on the growth of Lacrosse in Illinois and the history of the number of officials.

 BECOME A REFEREE 
To become a lacrosse referee , take these next steps:


Step 1 - Register for Training (usually in Feb/Mar)

Email us at Archie.Beaton@glloa.com with your contact information. Please also reserve a spot at a training class. See Home Page and calendar for details.


Step 2 - Training
(a) See Home Page and Calendar for dates.

Step 3 - Update Personal Info

Register on our assignment website www.assignbyweb.com/glloa site. Click on the "User Registration" link at the top of the website for new registration.

Please visit the site and update all personal information.

Step 4 - Dues - Membership in US Lacrosse, Membership in GLLOA

(a) Pay GLLOA dues of $25.  (WAIVED) for 2010 season

(b) Pay IHSA Registration Fees - Special for 2010 season $20 if no other IHSA sport ($15 if registered with IHSA in other sport)

(3) Join US Lacrosse from the US Lacrosse website (www.uslacrosse.org) as an official to obtain liability insurance, and other membership benefits. More on this at training session but it is a requirement.

Complete all information with the following special information:

(b) Order a High School Federation rule book

from the US Lacrosse during your online renewal/new member signup. 
One rulebook included in your membership.
Details on signing up will be given as part of the training session.

 

 

Step 5 - Uniforms

From top to bottom:
    -Black pin-strip cap
    -Black and white striped official’s jersey
      (short or long sleeve, but prefer crews to match. Ideal to have both)
    -Black undershirt (can be any black T-shirt)
    -White Shorts
    -Black Belt
    -Two yellow, weighted flags
    -Lacrosse Score Card with pencil
    -Coin (for coin toss)
    -Whistle (Finger whistles such as the Fox-40 work very well)
    -Small tape measure (for measuring Lacrosse sticks; should be upto 72”)
    -Knee-high white socks with black tops (not striped)
    -Black Cleats (prefer solid black, but some white stripping allowed)
    -20 Second Timer

Step 6 - Assignments

New officials will be given training games by the training coordinators. 
Once qualified, new officials should expect assignments on JV and Freshman games.
