-15’s Fall Tourney. Sponsorship
by the Rugby Alumni Association as a last chance to evaluate the player
skills sets prior to the competitive season. Celebrating 51 years of Rugby at UC Riverside, the history, tradition, and by official Mayoral Proclamation “UCR Rugby Alumni” Day is 1st weekend in December. Blue (Headhunters UCR Alumni side) vs. Gold (Highlanders undergrad side) end match
WHERE/LOCATION:
-Beautiful picturesque campus of UCR at the base of the Highlander Mountains, located at the UCR Sports Complex on the corner of Canyon Crest & Blaine, just 3 blocks up right off the 60 East freeway.
WHEN:
-First weekend in December, this year it’s Saturday Dec 5th, 2009. @ 9:30AM.
WHY:
-Annual UC Riverside Rugby Alumni Association fundraiser for youth rugby organizations in & around the Inland Empire. Purpose to raise awareness for, appreciation of, and encouragement for the culture of rugby
in the IE for disadvantaged, at-risk, and underserved youth
populations, who otherwise would not have the access to rugby at any
level. This serves as a
gathering of Rugby Alumni and fellow ruggers to celebrate rugby with an
opportunity to showcase the sport to the greater community.
HOW/COST:
-No fees, just a $200.00 donation to our non-profit, includes Roast Pig buffet for teams of 18 players. Make checks payable to “RUGBY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION AT UC RIVERSIDE.”
